Cooper’s career in the fiber arts began twenty years ago while studying textiles at the University of Georgia, Penland School of Crafts and later Haystack School. The experience at Haystack led to a long stay in Maine. Kathy discovered a love for painting when she made a floorcloth for her the kitchen of her old Maine farmhouse. The spontaneity of the medium appealed to her and sparked a dedication to art for the floor. Cooper became a pioneer in the revival of this lost art and developed a unique approach to the construction of floorcloths.
