Floorcloths can be custom designed and custom colored at no extra cost. That is one
reason they are so popular! Here are some guidelines to follow to request your custom floorcloth.

Example 1
First: Take a good look at the space where you plan to put your
floorcloth. You might even have a photograph of the space. Look at what your eye is drawn to.
Does your room need a colorful accent or something subtle to blend? Have you been looking at other
rugs and simply not found one that has the right colors? What color is your floor and what
colors do you want to accent with a rug? Are there any colors in adjacent rooms that you would
like to introduce with the floorcloth? Look through the gallery of images, my books or home decor magazines to get an idea of what appeals to you. Determine the size you need for your floorcloth. For assistance, refer to custom ordering and read about size.
 |
Next: Collect all of the fabrics and colors from your room
that you can. If you don't have an actual swatch of fabric left, find a paint chip with the colors
or something else that can represent the colors. Don't rely on photographs to document the colors
since they will look different on film. At this point you can
mail in your request with your colors,
photographs and ideas along with the dimensions and drawing fee ($100.00 non-refundable deposit
credited toward your purchase).

After I receive your letter, I will call you to discuss your order. For me the design process is a dialogue with each client listening to their wants and needs and trying to capture their ideas in an image. It is a conversation about what they already may have in the space, what their lives dictate about their needs and how I can meet their expectations. Each custom rug is different because each situation is unique.
After reviewing your information and talking with you on the phone, I will begin to work on a
drawing of the
floorcloth and then send you a copy. Once the drawing has been approved, it is a matter of
completing the order within the constraints of a studio schedule that fluctuates with the
seasons. It can often take 4 - 6 months during the busy months.
My goal is for each client
to feel very pleased and comfortable with their new rug. It is a wonderful feeling when they
send photos or letters telling me how happy they are with their purchase.
A floorcloth is a wonderful floor covering that will wear well for many years to come.
